Grist Mill
Grist Mill Is an upstairs apartment with views across the garden and Westwards over the Fowey Valley and towards the Cornish Alps. It sleeps up to 5 people and has an exposed stone wall and open granite fireplace for a cosy atmosphere.
Most of the old estates of Cornwall were self-sufficient in their beer and cider-making. It must have helped on the long winter evenings! They would typically have a hop garden and several fields of grist or malt. Lanlawren was no exception. The grist and corn mills were fed by Peakswater and are referred to in the 13th Century records. The original Hop House had a keystone dated 1601.
